Economic Education is the foundation for self-determination and enables the individual to lead a socially responsible life as a mature consumer, employee and citizen who is aware of how the economy works.
Linked to the University
The Institute for Economic Education is an institute affiliated with the University of Oldenburg. As an external research institute in the German state of Lower Saxony, it enjoys independent legal status, but is linked to the University through a cooperation agreement. That way, it is possible to pursue cutting-edge research, whilst simultaneously conducting practical research projects with specific support for teaching and learning processes in Economics.
Regional – national – international
The Institute for Economic Education has always been closely linked with the city of Oldenburg and the federal state of Lower Saxony. It is exceptionally well networked with regional schools, institutions, federations and companies. Close local ties with school, institutions, federations and companies are important for the work of the Institute for Economic Education. As a Centre of Excellence for Economic Education in Germany, the Institute for Economic Education is actively involved in a variety of projects right across Germany as well as a number of project activities overseas.
