Adaptive digital learning in economic education

Beschreibung:
In the last few years, a large number of digital learning opportunities have been developed in economic education in the course of digitalisation (including online material platforms, learning videos, digital textbooks). However, digitalisation can not only replace or functionally improve analogue media in the education sector, it can also change teaching and learning processes and contribute to an improvement in learning that would not have been possible without digital technologies. This includes, among other things, the possibility of using intelligent algorithms to enable user-orientated internal differentiation and to show, accompany and reflect on individual paths in the learning process.
The project ‘Adaptive digital learning in economics education’ aims to develop a prototype of a learning platform for economics education that automatically adapts to learners using artificial intelligence (e.g. through individualised feedback or assigning tasks that vary according to performance level). In the spirit of application-orientated basic research, this prototype of an adaptive AI-based learning platform is intended to investigate the potential and challenges of digital adaptive learning in economic education. To realise this complex research project, the IÖB is working on an interdisciplinary basis with the Universities of Lüneburg (Chair of Information Systems, in particular Machine Learning) and Tübingen (Chair of Computational Linguistics).
