The event format "1x1 der Wirtschaft" ("Economy 101") is an annual public summer lecture series organised by the IÖB and wigy e. V. in cooperation with the Nordwest-Zeitung (NWZ). The NWZ uses a coupon campaign to invite citizens living in the region to find out about current economic policy issues in the IÖB garden and then discuss them with a panel of experts. The experts are representatives of companies, associations and organisations, many of whom are well-known in the area.
With this idea, the IÖB and wigy e. V. were recognised as a "Landmark in the Land of Ideas" in 2009 as part of the nationwide competition "365 Landmarks in the Land of Ideas". Due to the great response, the series will be continued on an ongoing basis. "1x1 der Wirtschaft" is based on the glossary of the same name, which explains basic business terms.

Results:

• Since 2009: 17 garden lectures ‘1x1 of the economy’ in the garden of the IÖB

• 2014: one-off event in the Park der Gärten in Bad Zwischenahn
